The system also reports data on the type of HH event a staff member performed, alcohol-based sanitizer or soap and water.”
“Hyginex collects 80% more events than manual observation,” said Swami. “Hyginex measures successful HH events as ones that last for the duration set by the institution and events that occur upon entering and exiting patient zones. Each staff member wears a Hyginex device that allows data to be col- lected, even behind closed doors. The system also provides real-time feedback in the form of vibration reminders to staff who may have forgotten to clean their hands. The Hyginex system eliminates false positives, because individuals only receive credit for HH events where they both pump soap or alcohol and rub for a minimum set duration,” said Swami.
